Who We Are
Phoenix Charter Academy provides high-quality alternative education at three high schools across Massachusetts.

We are three schools with one mission.
Phoenix schools serve more than 500 students in key gateway cities across Massachusetts. Beginning with Phoenix Charter Academy Chelsea in 2006, Phoenix opened our doors to a Lawrence campus in 2012 and again in Springfield in 2014. Since our founding, we’ve engaged some of the most underserved high school students in the Commonwealth, many of whom are over the age of 18. We challenge students to believe in themselves, and we support them in their pursuit of educational opportunity and economic freedom.
We are students and families in search of opportunity and community.
Phoenix students bring with them deep ties to the communities we serve, and oftentimes have roots in countries all over the world. Our diverse student body contributes incredible academic, cultural, and social value to our schools each day, as they work towards a brighter future for themselves, their families, and their communities.

We are educators who believe in the potential of each and every young person we serve.
We consider every member of our staff and leadership to be educators. Many of us grew up in the same communities as our students and understand the challenges they may face. Together, we create a culture of belonging, support, and high expectations, helping students reconnect with their education and build the skills, confidence, and momentum to succeed in college, careers, and life.
Listen as Mike Caban, a long-time staff member at Phoenix Lawrence, explains what Phoenix means to our students, and to himself.

We are a vast network of supporters from all walks of life.
Whether as Board members or donors, advisors or community partners, our revolution would not be possible without our dedicated and diverse network of supporters.
