David Baird

Director of School Culture

Mr. Baird was born and raised in Signal Mountain, Tennessee, a small town in the southeastern part of the state. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Spanish Language and Literature and English. After graduating, Mr. Baird worked as a Spanish teacher in the Baltimore County Public School System, and he earned his master’s degree in secondary education in the spring of 2015. Mr. Baird then shifted gears and moved to Washington, D.C., to manage the education policy portfolio for a United States Senator as a Legislative Aide until the fall of 2016. The year before Mr. Baird joined the Phoenix community, he lived in Madrid, Spain, and worked as an English teacher and instructional coach at a bilingual high school. Now, as Director of School Culture at Phoenix Chelsea, Mr. Baird works every day to foster a school climate of respect and achievement, and he challenges himself and his team to ensure all students receive the relentless support they deserve and need to succeed at a high level.
