Our Academies

Phoenix schools are free, open-enrollment, college preparatory public high schools in Massachusetts. There are currently three operating academies, two public, charter schools in Chelsea and Springfield and an in-district school in Lawrence, serving over 500 students across Massachusetts.

Springfield
Lawrence
Chelsea

Phoenix Charter Academy Chelsea opened its doors in 2006 to 75 students and has grown to serve 200 students today. Graduating over 150 students since 2008, Phoenix Chelsea has subsequently served as the model for other Phoenix schools.

Phoenix Academy Lawrence, an in-district high school commissioned by Lawrence Public Schools under receiver Jeff Riley’s turn-around plan opened in 2012, graduated its first class in 2013 and currently serves 150 students. While it is not a charter school, Phoenix Lawrence is proud to uphold the same mission, same academy model, and same standard for hiring outstanding educators as Phoenix Chelsea.

After years of community building, Phoenix Charter Academy Springfield opened in 2014, graduated its first class in 2016 and currently serves 200 students.
